Tato sekce by měla pomoci všem novým, ale i potencionálním majitelům PSP odpovědět na nejčastější dotazy týkající se hardwaru, firmwaru, homebrew a dalších problémů.
Upozorňuji, že homebrew hry a aplikace lze spouštět pouze na PSP s firmwarem 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 - 2.80 pomocí eLoaderu, 2.71 - 3.03 pomocí HEN, a na PSP s nainstalovaným Custom Firmwarem 2.71 SE, 3.02 OE, 3.03 OE a 3.10 OE od Dark_AleXe.
- FIRMWARE - operační systém nahraný v paměti PSP (čím vyšší verze, tím více funkcí)
- UPGRADE - aktualizace firmwaru na vyšší verzi (oficiálně podporováno SONY)
- DOWNGRADE - přehrání firmwaru nižší verzí (nepodporováno SONY)
- HOMEBREW - neoficiální aplikace, nebo hra
- FLASH - vnitřní paměť PSP, ve které je nahrán firmware
- DEATH PIXEL - mrtvý bod, který na displeji svítí jednou barvou, nebo nesvítí vůbec (5 death pixelů by mělo stačit na reklamaci)
- BRICK - trvalé poškození PSP, většinou nesprávným zásahem do flash paměti
- ROOT - kořenový adresář, což je vpodstatě karta, disk, nebo písmeno pod kterým se PSP hlásí ve windows
- ISO - záloha originální hry z UMD, převedená do jednoho souboru (komprimované varianty: CSO, DAX)
- XMB (Cross Media Bar) - přehledné grafické menu systému PSP
- V menu SETTINGS - System Settings - System Information
- Na nálepce na krabici, podle označení
- A = 1.50
- B = 1.51
- C = 1.52
- D = 1.52
- E = 1.52
- F = 2.00
- G = 2.01
- H = 2.50
- I = 2.60
- J = 2.70
- K = 2.71
- L = 2.81 (může být i 2.71)
- TA-079 (označení základní desky IC6001) - první typy PSP s fw.1.00 - 1.52, bez problémů lze provádět upgrade a downgrade firmwaru
- TA-081 (označení základní desky IC6001) - PSP s fw.2.00 - 2.60, bez problémů lze provádět upgrade a downgrade firmwaru
- TA-082 (označení základní desky IC1003) - PSP s fw.2.50 a vyšší, bez problémů lze provádět upgrade, ale downgrade byl donedávna nemožný díky hardwarové pojistce. Jenže Dark AleXovi se podařilo tuto pojistku softwarově obejít a umožnit tak downgrade. TA-082 poznáte podle čísla IC1003 pod dvířky UMD mechaniky (viz. obrázek)
- TA-086 (označení základní desky TA-086) - PSP s fw.2.81, bez problémů lze provádět upgrade a nyní je možný i downgrade díky Dark_AleXovi, goofymu a týmu Noobz. Na obrázku vidíte označení základní desky a nálepku na krabici.
- Homebrew - ms0:/ PSP / GAME / (u custom firmwaru také GAME150, nebo GAME310)
- ISO - ms0:/ ISO /
- Obrázky - ms0:/ PSP / PHOTO /
- Hudba - ms0:/ PSP / MUSIC /

- Video MP4 AVC - ms0:/ MP_ROOT / 100ANV01 /

- Update firmwaru - ms0:/ PSP / GAME / UPDATE /
- Uložené pozice her - ms0:/ PSP / GAME / SAVEDATA /
- Upgrade firmwaru je možný na všech typech PSP s libovolným firmwarem. Upgrade je možný vždy jen na vyšší verzi firmwaru, než máte nainstalovanou ve vašem PSP.
- Stáhněte si požadovanou verzi firmwaru a soubor EBOOT.PBP nakopírujte na MemoryStick do adresáře ms0:/ PSP / GAME / UPDATE /
- Dobijte baterii na maximum
- Poté v menu GAME - MemoryStick spusťte UPDATE
- Aktuální verzi firmwaru stahujte z oficiálního webu SONY PSP, starší verze můžete stahovat například ZDE.
- Update můžete také provést z originálního UMD s nějakou hrou
! POZOR ! POKUD BUDETE CHTÍT PROVÁDĚT POZDĚJI DOWNGRADE NEINSTALUJTE VYŠŠÍ VERZI FIRMWARU NEŽ 3.03 !
- Downgrade firmwaru je možný pouze na PSP s verzí firmwaru maximálně 3.03.
- Pokud máte PSP s verzí firmwaru nižší než 2.71, doporučuji provést nejprve UPDATE na verzi 3.03 a poté downgrade na 1.5 podle tohoto návodu
- Před každým downgradem byste měli dobít baterii na maximum

- Pokud máte firmware vyšší než 3.03 (3.10 - 3.11), downgrade není zatím možný!
Pokud se rozhodnete pro downgrade vašeho firmwaru, čtěte pozorně a důkladně celý návod, protože provádíte zápis do flash paměti PSP a může dojít k jeho poškození!

- Custom firmware je hibrydní firmware vytvořený sloučením oficiálního firmwaru 1.5 a pokud možno nejnovější verze firmwaru. Tím získáte aktuální firmware s vlastnostmi firmwaru 1.5, jako například možnost spouštět homebrew, nebo ISO zálohy her.
- Custom firmware je možné nainstalovat pouze z firmwaru 1.5, nebo z nějkteré již dříve nainstalované verze custom firmwaru (2.71SE-C, 3.02OE-B, 3.03OE-C)
- Nejnovější verze custom firmwaru je 3.10OE a návod na instalaci naleznete ZDE
Pokud se rozhodnete pro instalaci CUSTOM FIRMWARU, čtěte pozorně a důkladně celý návod, protože provádíte zápis do flash paměti PSP a může dojít k jeho poškození!
! POZOR ! PROVÁDĚJTE POUZE NA VLASTNÍ RIZIKO !
- Důležité:
- Pokud vám PSP "zamrzne" při vstupu do menu GAME, zkontrolujte jestli máte na kartě vytvořené všechny potřebné složky (na obrázku označené červeně)
- Po spuštění hry se vám může zobrazit chybové hlášení s číselným kódem:
- 80020148 - vstupte do Recovery Menu (při startu PSP držte R), zvolte Advanced - Advanced configuration a zde nastavte Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO na Disabled
- 80020321 - v mechanice není UMD disk
- 80010002 - v mechanice máte UMD film, vyměňte ho za UMD hru
- Pokud vám PSP "zamrzne" při vstupu do menu GAME, zkontrolujte jestli máte na kartě vytvořené všechny potřebné složky (na obrázku označené červeně)
- Homebrew aplikace a hry určené pro fw.1.5 mají vždy dvě složky pojmenované NÁZEV a NÁZEV%. Abyste se zbavili Corrupted data ikon, stačí tyto složky přejmenovat na __SCE__NÁZEV a %__SCE__NÁZEV. Tento problém se netýká homebrew pro fw.1.0, nebo 2.0 a vyšší.
